"Fired"

And on Christmas Day at that!!

Terminated, Given the boot, Let go, Dumped, Sacked, Canned, Cashiered, Axed, Shown the door, Chainsawed, Bounced out, Eighty-sixed, Given the old heave-ho, Discharged, Dismissed, etcetera, etcetera

After 27 plus years I have lots of mixed emotions but the over-riding one is a sense of peace. I have given what I have to give and I think it was enough....apparently they thought so as well....lol.

Someone asked me what I was gonna do now and I replied that I was thinking of maybe training for an Ironman triathlon!

Like I said, lots of stuff tumbling around in my brain. Tomorrow I will try to tell you more about it.

(no workout)

Actually, I began to think that maybe there is a god, after all. Or maybe it's a different one. The old one got fired."---Terry Gilliam

  1. Congratulations on getting fired! For the last two years, you were unhappy with the job you were doing! This may be the kick in the pants you need to try the things you've always wanted to do.

Yes, there is the emotional attachment to being at a job as long as you were, which only time can heal. I know, you wanted to leave and do it on your own term, but I believe if you weren't fired then you might have continued down the same boring path. I recall numerous occasions you mentioned about quitting cause you no longer looked forward to going to work. I encouraged you to do so, but to no avail.

This is your chance to reinvent yourself, and do something that is less stressful, more hands on, and less focus on how much it pays.

I am excited for you, and can't wait for what the next chapter in your life will be.

    Love you more!

  2. I so understand the emotions that you are enduring Pete. Embrace them, come to peace with them. Your 27 years at work has served its purpose in more positive ways than you can imagine so for that congratulate yourself and prepare to move on to the next chapter of your life to serve your true life purpose. Your life lessons thus far can only take you to greater and higher opportunities that will give you joy and pleasure. Enjoy the next chapter of your life. can't wait to hear about it.

  3. I understand the emotions that comes with change. No longer being part of a system that has been the norm for so many years, is mind altering. Emotionally taxing. What ever their reasons, your demise with this company was going to happen, one way or another. You gave them your dedication for 27 years, now let them pay your just deserve. They will miss your dedication.

Allow yourself the grieving process, this is healthy. You are a strong individual. You will find your niche. In time you will be doing what you want to do and be happy doing it. For now, take a break, work on your ironman, breath the fresh air a new day brings.

You inspire me. No matter the battle, you will succeed.
